A Perfect Moment At The End Of A Less Than Perfect Day

Yesterday was one of those days.  I had chastised my 6 and 2 year olds for what seemed the whole day.  No amount of cajoling, threatening, attempted distraction or straight out threats had worked.  Their arguing, sniping, whining and fighting had continued unabated.

I have to say I was totally exhausted and disheartened (to say the least) by the end of the day.  So I was so pleased when 6 year old appeared by my side to say that he was sorry for being so naughty.  All my bad humour melted away and I wrapped him in a big hug, cuddling him close.

After a minute of two he raised his head and looked up at my face with a concerned look and said with all seriousness:  “Mummy, under your arms is a little bit stinky.”

And that was the end of my perfect moment.

But I did laugh and even said yes when he volunteered to get the deodorant for me!

My Heartfelt Prayer For My Babies – Every Day

My babiesDear Universe,

Thank you, thank you with all my heart for my beautiful babies.  They bring me such joy; I never knew such overpowering love could exist for me.  I’m so grateful.  Grateful with all my heart, thank you.

With every fibre and every bone in my body thank you for keeping them safe when I have dropped the ball.  Like the time Lucas was lost at the seaside.  Or when we were all up in the house and Lucas fell in the pool.  I thank you for Marc pulling him out.  I thank Marc again.  Thank god for you Marc.

Please don’t let the nightmares stop. They remind me to keep better watch.

And please (wink), can we win a bit of money on the Lotto?  Just enough to do the extension.  Nick would be so happy.

I’m grateful every day.

Don’t forget to enjoy your day.

Why I Love My Husband

Because standing in the kitchen wearing my old tracksuit bottoms after 5 days of christmas eating brings this comment from him.

“Have you lost weight?  Those tracksuit pants look baggier.”

God damn, I know why I married this man.

An Obsession with Bins….

My darling 4y/o has an obsession with bins.  His greatest joy in the world is the Tuesday morning ritual of the recycling truck and bin men spiriting away the house hold rubbish.  Second to this, is the need to inspect every bin we come across in our shopping trips.  Yesterday at the local shopping centre, I sat down to deal with my undone shoelace (dangerous especially when 8 m/o is strapped to me in the baby carrier) when 4y/o sped off to go and look at the new pink bin by Waitrose.  After carefully inspecting the exterior he peered into the bin with a puzzled look on his face.  Turning back to me he spread his arms wide and pointed to his chest while calling at the top of his voice – ‘Mummy it’s for the things for yours boobies!!!!’.  He had found a breast cancer bra bank and I couldn’t help laughing – along with everyone else in the vicinity….

Hopes Couldn’t Be More Different

There are two questions my son always asks when I pick him up from school…

“Mum, did you bring me a sweet?” and then, “Mum can we have McDonalds for dinner?”

Hopes couldn’t be more different.  For me, a kiss, a hug or even a smile that says Mum!  I missed you……

Both of us disappointed, but not discouraged!

Don’t forget to enjoy your day.
